Why I Stopped Buying Auto Parts on Price Alone — and What Changed My Mind

I think buying car parts in 2025 is an engineering decision, not just a purchasing decision. Here's the thing: if you still choose suppliers mostly on price, you're leaving risk on the table. In the last five years, I've watched the industry change in a way that many fleet buyers haven't caught up to—proving quality matters more than promising it.

I'm the office administrator for a 140-person logistics company. I handle fleet parts procurement, roughly $350,000 a year across 8 vendors. But when I'm ordering for a fleet, I can't touch every part. I need the paperwork, the part number, and the test data. That's not admin bloat. That's how I explain the spending to finance.

What I'd tell another buyer
